Brand New Day - Chapter 35

Part XVI

Chapter 35:

I knew it would be bad.

I was happy Robert was out, but I was breaking inside at the thought of me bringing him back.

It had been 3 days since the meeting and the detectives found Robert and the two other guys Doug and Greg in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. We were packing to go and force them back.

Lydia hat to stay, the R.F.I. didn’t want to risk having us both out.

She had been helping me to calm down, she could tell I was nervous.

What if Robert hated me for this?

There had to be a way to not let it happen, I just didn’t know what it was.

We were on a plane and I was stuck sitting next to Jones. He whispered, “Look Sara I know you’re in there and I know you can hear me. So just listen, I have in my hand your monitoring system,” he showed me this type of Palm Pilot device with a bunch of figures and graphs. “I can decide what to have you do. I can shock you at the touch of a button.”

I winced.

Crap, I wasn’t supposed to show I could move.

“I knew it,” he whispered even quieter.

I had been getting stronger. I was able to go closer to the restrictions without struggling. It was becoming more natural in ways. But I still couldn’t truly control my whole self without them knowing.

“I want to help you, but you have to trust me.”

Pfft… yeah right. He was the reason for everything, well sort of. But he was the one to take me to get upgraded.

I didn’t want his help, so I gave a little shake to my head, to say no.

“Please, I can, I can completely stop your chip from controlling you or I can make it hurt you even more.”

So he was threatening me to trust him, but what other choice did I have.

“Do you believe me that I will help you? I won’t hurt you unless it is necessary.”

I winked, forgetting he didn’t know my sign language.

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

Crap.

We arrived in about 4 hours and luckily we didn’t have much luggage, because it was only 3 of us. One guy who was like the bodyguard. His name is Mark, he had big broad shoulders, dark skin, light brown hair and gorgeous hazel eyes. He was dressed in all black. (Maybe they thought it was intimidating.) And of course there was Jones and I.

We all squeezed into a small Red Chevy truck that only had the front seats. Mark drove and had the GPS programmed to a house that was where Robert and the others were supposedly staying.

About an hour later we arrived. We proceeded into the house, Mark didn’t bother knocking, he just waltzed in. Jones was still carrying my monitoring system. I wish he would turn my chip off, but Mark would get suspicious. So we stepped into the living room, but there was no furniture anywhere.

Why would Robert hide here?

“Hello?” Jones called, “Robert if you’re here, we have your precious Sara with us. And if you don’t show yourself, I will take matters into my own hands. Meaning Sara will be in excruciating pain, because of you.”

Don’t do it Robert, please just stay hidden. I was hoping to myself that he would do that.

Then I heard a muffled yelp and a dragging sound.

I pushed through and moved my head side to side and saw Jones and Mark had disappeared.

Then there was a hand over my mouth and a needle in my arm.

“Uh not again,” I thought to myself just before I was out.
