Brand New Day - Chapter 36

Part XVII

Chapter 36:

“Is she awake yet?” Doug asked over my shoulder.

“Not yet,” I said. I hadn’t left her side since we extracted the chip out.

Greg was pacing around the room, he was afraid the surgeon messed up on taking the chip out. The surgeon; Dr. Grant was a specialist on mainly plastic surgery, but Greg and Doug had bribed him into taking the chip out without any questions. He had done mine a few days ago and then Sara’s yesterday evening. But Greg was just paranoid and Doug was just impatient.

Sara’s eyes began to flutter.

“Sara,” I breathed out.

She blinked her eyes, slowly opening them and then she glanced up at me. We stared into each other’s eyes for what felt like forever, when she suddenly pulled me into an embrace.

“Ooh…ow,” she reached and felt her bandaged neck.

“Yeah, you might want to take it easy,” I smiled and kissed her forehead.

“Wait I can move and talk,” she gasped, “you took the chip out?”

“Yes.”

Tears began swelling in her eyes, “thank you so much Robert…I love you and I am so sorry about New Year’s.”

“Please, we are way past that, but I love you too.”

I kissed her again, but this time softly on the lips.

“Where’s Jones and Mark?” she asked.

“We took care of them. We just drugged them and now they will be out for a while. Oh yeah this is Doug and Greg.”

“Nice to meet you,” she smiled at both of them.

“Same to you,” they both said.

They did that all the time, but with identical twins I suppose it was alright.

“So what happened?” Sara questioned.

“Well we knew you guys were coming after us. They forget they have someone able to see the future. So I saw the house they were taking you to and we just hid, ready to take them out. Sorry I had to drug you, but I didn’t know how strong your chip was and I didn’t want to take any chances. But yeah it was way too easy. Then we took you to this surgeon Dr. Grant who took my chip out and he did the same for you.”

“Speaking of chips and things, I can’t feel my talent anymore,” she announced.

Man, I knew this would happen.

“Yeah, I thought so. When you have the chip, it is like the only thing keeping the talent mostly.”

“But you could still have visions,” she interrupted.

“I know, but they got to you much later. So the talent didn’t get a chance to become permanent. Mine since I was younger, it has more time to develop. I will admit though, my talent is a bit fuzzier without the chip. But it is still slightly there.”

“Oh,” she said, “so what do we do now? We need to get Lydia and somehow stop them in Portland.”

“I know. We will get Lydia I promise,” I said reassuringly.

“We already have a plan,” Doug announced.
